Can the Mark help with sciatica or piriformis syndrome?

Tightness in the iliacus and psoas muscles (your hip flexors) can contribute to sciatica or piriformis syndrome. When they become tight, the opposing muscles on the back side of the hips, such as the piriformis, also tend to tighten up. When tight, the piriformis can cause discomfort deep in the glute. Because it overlaps the sciatic nerve, tension in the piriformis may result in irritation to the sciatic nerve, which causes numbness, tingling, or pain down the back side of the leg and into the foot (similar to sciatica from a disc injury).

The Mark is designed to apply pressure to the iliacus and psoas muscles to reduce tightness. When used consistently over time, less tension on the front of the hip supports less tension in the piriformis on the back of the hip. Support this further by also using the Orbit to release the piriformis directly. This combination allows the muscles surrounding the hips and pelvis to loosen up and reduce the pressure placed on the sciatic nerve, giving the sciatic nerve a better chance to heal, reducing your pain.
