Tightness in the iliacus and psoas muscles (your hip flexors) can contribute to hip impingement. These muscles attach directly to your hips and pelvis. When tight, they can rotate the pelvis forward into an anterior tilt which closes off the amount of space for the hip to move within the hip joint.
As you move through certain ranges of motion (like hip flexion and hip internal rotation), the head of the femur runs out of space, creates friction in the joint, and pinches the soft tissues inside of the acetabulum (hip socket). This pinching is called hip impingement, or femoroacetabular impingement (FAI).
The Mark is designed to apply pressure to the iliacus and psoas muscles to reduce tightness. When used consistently over time, the Mark can help support an improved alignment of the hips and pelvis and return it to a more neutral position. This opens up more space for the hip to move within the hip socket. This may result in less pinching and less pain.
